Aceh Social Security to Be Questioned

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The Special Committee for the Aceh Government Draft Bill is questioning the government's readiness regarding social security in Aceh.
Questions are arising because, up to now, social security has never in fact been implemented in Indonesia.
“However, there is still the opportunity for this to be implemented immediately,” said Ahmad Farhan, a member of the special committee from the National Mandate Party faction, yesterday (16/5).
He proposed that provincial governments and municipal governments, as well as the Acehnese general public be obligated to provide equal opportunities for invalids and the elderly.
According to Sofyan Djalil, State Minister for Communication and Information, currently the state has not yet able to implement this.
“This is because it requires a lot of funds.”
