TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The terrorist group led by Noor Din M Top which was raided by Detachment 88 National Police Headquarters in Wonosobo, Central Java, plans attacks in other places.
“It could have been aimed at the D-8 Summit in Bali, or the celebration of Waisak (holiday marking Buddha's birth, enlightenment, and death) at Borobudur temple.
They prepared these bombs,” said National Police Chief, General Sutanto, in the hearing with the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission for Law at the parliament complex, yesterday.
According to Sutanto, these possibilities were admitted by one of the suspects, Mustaghfirin.
He said that together with Abdul Hadi, he was in on a robbery in Pekalongan, Central Java, and Yogyakarta.
“The last rumor is they plan another robbery in Central Java,” said Sutanto.
Based on Mustaghfirin’s testimony, the group made a 20-kilogram bomb. “It is very powerful,” he said.
Mustaghfirin also bought newspapers in the last two days before the raid to find out the latest situation.
In addition, a few days before the planned raid, said Sutanto, he had been actively going to Borobudur temple.
“We are thankful that we have arrested them, so there will not be any more victims,” said Sutanto.
