TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The Attorney General's Office issued an order to revoke the arrest warrant for former President Suharto. This is regarding the health of the former ruler of the New Order and simplification of the process if he is to go abroad for treatment.
“There are no reasons to maintain the arrest warrant because withdrawal is to facilitate him going abroad for medication,” said the attorney general Abdul Rahman Saleh in his office today.
The arrest warrant began to be ended yesterday afternoon and was followed up by Deputy Attorney General for Special Criminal Actions canceling the warrant.
The attorney general did not comment on legal efforts to be put into effect towards Suharto. When reporters asked about matters being delayed regarding the case, he emphasized that the Attorney General's Office will handle the case according to the portion that is regulated by the law.
Three areas are under the authority of the attorney general's office to settle the case, among which are discontinuing the investigation order , delay and termination of the warrant. “We will study about these three first,” he said.
