TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The House of Representatives (DPR) Chairman, Agung Laksono, agreed to hold a parliament leaders meeting to discuss the envelopes (containing money) presented to the Special Committee for the Aceh Government Bill. But, before that he will ask for clarification from a special committee.
According to Agung Laksono, the envelope distribution should not have taken place. “That should not have happened, either in the DPR or any other institution,” he told Tempo after a press gathering at his official residence on Jalan Widya Candra, Jakarta, Saturday (29/3).
At the same place, DPR Deputy Chairman, Soetardjo Soerjogoeritno, admitted having requested the DPR Courtesy Board to immediately call the special committee members who accepted the envelopes. The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle’s (PDI-P) senior politician also requested the Home Affairs Minister, M. Ma'ruf, not to repeat giving envelopes to parliament members. DPR Secretary General, Faisal Djamal, is of the opinion that the whole episode about the envelopes is an offense.
