TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The House of Representatives (DPR) Commission for Manpower, Chairperson, Ribka Tjiptaning Proletariati, said she will meet the laborers demonstrating at the parliament complex today commemorating International Labor Day. “They don't want to meet a mere representative,” said Ribka in Jakarta, yesterday.
At the moment, meeting with labor, according to Ribka, the DPR members will receive the laborers’ aspirations regarding refusing to revise Decree No. 13/2003 on Manpower. The meeting is also a commemoration of Labor Day.
The Indonesian Democractic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) explained the government has never involved the DPR with participating in the discussion on the revision. The DPR obtained a copy of the revision from the trade union. So she suggested the government ask the DPR to attend in the process of the discussion on manpower regulations revision. “But that depends on the government; they either need the DPR or not,” she said.
