TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The Indonesian Corruption Watch (ICW) describes the ballooning of funds for the Acehnese housing project has climbed to fifty percent.
“Twenty to thirty percent profit margin is still acceptable. But if it's more than fifty percent, that exceeds reality,” Ridaya La Ode Ngkowe, an ICW member concurrently Aceh Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Monitoring Program Manager, told the press yesterday.
Ridaya said for building a house, type 36, according to the standard of the Aceh area which is sensitive to natural disasters, was determined to be between Rp28 million to Rp30 million. Whereas, based on the field survey, with the same standard quality, it will cost Rp15 million.
Until the end of 2005, 30,000 houses have been built. From January to July, the Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Agency (BRR) is targeted to finish 70,000 houses.
As to making boats, the price determined is Rp28 million. Nevertheless, with wood of the same quality, the local people can construct the same type of boat for Rp12 to Rp15 million. “But according to BRR, providing boats is a task of the Social Welfare Department and the Fisheries Department,” he said.
