Government To Review Regional Leaders Election in Aceh

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The government will review the regional leaders election in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam Province.

The review, said Home Affairs Minister M. Ma'aruf, is connected to the formation of the Aceh Government Draft Bill which is currently being discussed by the government and the House of Representatives (DPR).

“We must review the issue of the election date, because it must be according to the new law,” said Ma'aruf in Jakarta, yesterday.

About the election date, Ma'aruf admitted his side could not decide yet, because the government is concentrating on and prioritizing the settlement of the Aceh Government Draft Bill.

“For the government, what matters is how to complete the law so that it has quality, then we will solve the regional election problem there by implementing the law in the form of regulations linking the regional election,” he said.
