TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: A total of Rp12.7 trillion has been allocated by the Indonesian government for funding Papua's special autonomy.
In the State Budget 2006, the fundingfor Papua and West Irian Jaya is recorded at Rp16 trillion.
This Rp12.7 trillion was a part of the Rp16 trillion funding for Papua and West Irian Jaya,” said Minister of National Development Planning/Head of National Development Planning Agency, Paskah Suzetta, when contacted by Tempo, Tuesday (11/3).
The remainder, he said, is for West Irian Jaya funding.
The Rp12.7 trillion, Paskah continued, was a regional balancing funding for Papua together with de-concentration funds plus financial aid.
“So it's clear that the funds are indeed for Papua including special allocated funds and general allocated funds,” he said.
