TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The Chairman of House of Representatives (DPR) Special Committee for Anti-Pornography and Pornographic Acts Bill, Balkan Kaplale, urged the government to look into the distribution of Playboy Indonesia magazine, whose premiere edition came out yesterday. “In accordance with what the Minister of Women’s Empowerment, Mutia Hatta, said (that magazine is forbidden),” he held in Jakarta, yesterday (6/4).
The government, according to the member of the Democratic Party, must control the distribution or even shut the office of Playboy, and sue. The police should have taken action based on authority guaranteed by law.
Playboy Indonesia, a monthly magazine, today starts to be available on the market, costing Rp39,000 (in Java). The publisher, PT Velvet Silver Media, also holds the Playboy license in Indonesia. The targeted segment is men, aged 25-40. Playboy is published in 20 countries. Indonesia is the twentieth country after Argentina.
