Amrozi to Testify in Ba’asyir Trial
Thursday, 06 April, 2006 | 18:11 WIB
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Amrozi, who was found guilty and convicted to death in the second Bali bombing case, is to testify a review court of the Mujahidin Indonesia leader, Abu Bakar Ba’asyir.
His testimony will be heard in the Cilacap District Court, Central Java, on Wednesday, April 19.
”The Cilacap District Court, where Amrozi was questioned, has determined the trial time,” said a member of Abu Bakar Ba’asyir’s Legal Advisory Team, Achmad Michdan, yesterday (5/4).
Michdan said that the notification letter had been received on Monday.
The deputy chairman of Cilacap District Court will be the head of the panel of judges together with Crisfajar Sosiawan and Muslich Bambang Luqmono.
Amrozi’s testimony in Cilacap was delegated by the South Jakarta District Court as part of the review of Abu Bakar Ba’asyir’s case.
“The questioning was at our request,” said Michdan.
Amrozi is appearing as a witness because of his statement which disputes Mubaroq confession that they had met and he reported the Bali bombing in October, 2002.
“If Amrozi disputes Mubaroq’s confession, Abu Bakar Ba’asyir’s sentence of 2.5 years must be cancelled. Because one of the judges’ considerations for that verdict is Mubaroq’s confession,” said Michdan.
