Project Land Price only Rp500 per Square Meter

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: About one hundred Poso residents are pushing for a local hydroelectric power plant (PLTA) project to be stopped.

There is concern that the project could create trouble as the sum of only Rp500 per square meter is being offered in land compensation.

The residents have also formed the PLTA Avocation Front.

Martem Ombo, the front’s coordinator, said that with this low compensation the residents would suffer losses.

According to Ronald Mosiangi, Director of the Panorama Alam Lestari Tentena Foundation, the residents have rejected the project since the laying of the corner stone on April 18, last year.
