TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The National Flight Safety Commission (KNKT) last week delivered its temporary result of the investigations into the Mandala Air, Adam Air and Lion Air in Surabaya air accident cases to Transportation Minister Hatta Radjasa.
Setio said he expected that, based on these temporary result, the Transportation Minister would call on the three airlines to reorganize their respective managements, in particular as regards airplanes monitoring and maintenance of airplanes about to fly.
He explained that the investigation results are not entirely final, especially for Adam Air and Lion Air because the black boxes of the two airplanes are to be sent to Australia on Sunday for investigation.
As for Mandala, Setio told Tempo, from the outbound investigation, it was concluded that the plane failed to take off.
The factor of overloading has been looked into, but this was not the cause of the plane crash.
“This is what we are searching for, however the plane monitoring must also be questioned,” said Setio.
M. Ikhsan Tatang, the General Director of Air Transportation, has previously warned some airlines whose airplanes are often involved in incidents.
The directorate general has also set up an independent team in order to be more objective in monitoring the management and checking of airplanes suitability.
