National Police to Provide Security for Officials and Foreign Citizens

TEMPO Interactive, Surabaya, East Java:General Sutanto, the National Chief of Police, has said that he was ready to provide special security for state officials and foreign citizens.

Sutanto made this statement in relation to information from the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) that terrorist operational targets had changed from bombing buildings and churches to the kidnapping of state officials and foreign citizens.

“This (the kidnapping of officials and foreign citizens) might take place. We have prepared security for everyone that has become a target,” Sutanto said in Surabaya on Wednesday (21/12).

According to the National Chief of Police, in the run-up to the Christmas and New Year holidays, the police have increased their alert status.

As in previous years, there is always the risk of there being victims.

“We’re already on the alert. We cannot afford to be careless,” said Sutanto.

After providing security for terrorist targets, the National Police will also secure places of worships and public places. (Adi Mawardi-Tempo News Room)
