New Terrorist Modus: Murder Rather Than Kidnapping

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The Indonesian Coordinating Ministry for Politics, Law and Security is yet to see any specific indicator on a plan to kidnap officials and foreigners by Noor Din M. Top as suggested by the State Intelligence Agency (BIN).
“I don’t see any specific indicator towards kidnapping. However, the BIN findings should be received as a warning,” Ansyaad, Head of the Anti-Terror Desk at the state ministry told Tempo on Wednesday (21/12).
There are four terrorism modus operandi, Ansyaad said; they are kidnapping, the taking of hostages, assassination and bombing.
Without disregarding the suggestions made by the BIN, Ansyaad, said that most likely of these four terrorist modus operandi was murder.
This was because most terrorists have weapons and guns, and it was likely that any such act of terrorism would be carried out on a hit and run basis.
On the other hand however, kidnappings require long and difficult planning, and the likelihood of subsequent arrests is high.(Fanny Febiana-Tempo News Room)
