TEMPO Interactive, Surabaya, East Java:General Sutanto, the National Chief of Police, has said he hopes that Polycarpus Budihari Priyanto would be open about providing information to the police related to the murder of human rights activist Munir.
“This way, we will be able to find out who was behind the murder of Munir,” Sutanto told reporters after attending a swearing-in ceremony of Indonesian Military (TNI) and National Police officers in Surabaya on Wednesday (21/12).
Not only Pollycarpus, all parties are requested to be open about providing information so that the police can disocver the mastermind behind Munir’s murder.
“The crime scene was on the plane and the investigation in the Netherlands. We’ve experienced difficulties in this case,” stated Sutanto.
The panel of judges at the Central Jakarta District Court sentenced Pollycarpus to 14 years in prison.
However, the judges still requested that the police conduct a more accurate investigation into finding other parties that might have been involved in the case.
“Pollycarpus was not the only one who wanted to take Munir’s life,” said Judge Ridwan Mansyur.
