TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The terrorist group led by Noor Din M. Top is assumed to have planned to kidnap government officials and foreigners. According to State Intelligence Agency (BIN) head Syamsir Siregar, the agency acknowledges this plan after having found the preparations devised by Noor Din’s group.
“Their target is the people assumed to have influenced the situation,” stated Siregar to reporters in Jakarta on Tuesday (20/12).
Siregar did not detail the names of the officials that would be the target of the kidnapping. However, he said, the plan revealed bombing several houses of worship at the end of this year, making the group rethink the plan.
However, he said, the agency would be on alert in anticipating the possibilities of the bombing plan by the terrorists at the end of this year.
The terrorists’ plan, Siregar said, was basically aimed at disturbing the favorable security situation. According to Siregar, the tight security in various vital places would limit the group’s room to maneuver.
