Saturday, 10 December, 2005 | 14:54 WIB
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:National Police Chief Gen. Sutanto has asked Polycarpus Budihari Priyanto, the main defendant of Munir’s murder case, to be honest in giving his testimony. “But, he is very closed to the police. The main key is to obtain information on other suspects other than Polycarpus,” stated Sutarto in Jakarta on Friday (09/12).
According to Sutanto, everyone wishes to divulge the case that has drawn the public’s attention. However, he said that some inquiries could be revealed immediately and some could not.
Sutanto said that the murder taking place in the aircraft could cause problems to the police investigation. “This is because the first ones arriving on the scene are not the police,” stated Sutanto. He pointed out examples of the police successfully uncovering many bombing cases, as the police were the first ones on the scene.
According to Sutanto, the police cannot give various opinions, assumptions and intelligence information to the court. Therefore, he requested understanding from society by reason that the police do not wish to be trapped by various opinions coming in without any proof.
The National Police chief pointed out a murder case that is yet to be disclosed up to now, that is the murder of US President JF Kennedy. “The US government has made great efforts to expose the case,” said Sutanto. (Istiqomatul Hayati-Tempo News Room)
