TEMPO Interactive, Denpasar:Three suspects linked to the bombing case in Jimbaran and Kuta who were brought to Bali were returned to Central Java. From the investigation so far, there is yet to be any relationship between the three suspects and the bombing that killed 22 people.
“They are charged with knowing terrorist suspects but failing to report them,” stated Bali Police spokesman High Comm. Reniban on Tuesday (22/11). “We need to develop the investigation and efforts to arrest others in the terrorist network.”
The three suspects are Muhammad Cholili aka Yahya Antoni aka Hanif, Abdul Azis Abdul Azis aka Jaffar and Anif Sulchanudin. According to Reniban, Cholili, 28, said that he had known Noor Din Moh. Top and Dr. Azahari since May 2005. “I met them in Central Java and they asked to participate in religious activities,” stated Reniban.
Cholili also knew that Dr. Azahari and Noor Din had been involved in the Bali bombing II on October 1, 2005. Cholili admitted that he has been member of the Jemaah Islamiyah organization since 1999.
Abdul Azis Abdul Azis, 30, was asked to create an internet website, www.anshar.net, by someone with the initials of CY. This site contained articles about jihad. “The National Police headquarters (HQ) are trying to trace the detailed process of creating the website,” stated Reniban.
Abdul Azis said that he had met Noor Din and Azahari in July. According to Abdul Azis, he knew that Noor Din was a fugitive. Another suspect, Anif Sulchanudin, is assumed to have given facilities to Noor Din. (Rofiqi Hasan-Tempo News Room)
