TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Central Java Police, Chief Inspector General Chaerul Rasjid, has said that the province of Central Java has become a potential areas for terrorist networks in obtaining new recruits.

In addition to being used for a location for recruitment, Central Java is also used as a place to plan terrorist attacks.

“This is because the level of poverty in this province is quite high. This is proved quite clearly by the fact that several terrorist suspects come from Central Java,” Rasjid told reporters on Monday (21/11) in Solo, Central Java.

The Chief of Police visited several Islamic boarding schools in Solo, on Monday.

He visited the Al-Mukmin, Ngruki and Sukoharjo Islamic boarding schools as well as the Al Koran Interpretation Institute (MTA) in Solo.

According to Rasjid, his visit to Al-Mukmin Islamic boarding school, established by Abu Bakar Ba’asyir and Abdullah Sungkar, was aimed at establishing a good relationship with the school.

However, he admitted that he had delivered some messages to the teachers of the school, including the police’s hope for teachers to maintain a conducive climate.
