TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:As Indonesia has three time zones, the waters, as well as the land, will be divided into three regions. This will hopefully be realized starting next year.
“We are prepared for all this. We hope that we can achieve this in 2006. We just need to wait for the decision on this matter,” said Indonesian Military (TNI) Navy Chief of Staff Adm. Slamet Soebijanto to reporters at the Marine Corps headquarters (HQ) in Jakarta on Tuesday (15/11).
Currently, Soebijanto said, the validation of the organization has been attained “We have proposed this matter to the Indonesian Military (TNI) chief,” stated Soebijanto. He said the officials have been appointed and the headquarters (HQ) to be occupied has also been prepared. The equipment will follow, he added.
The TNI Navy will focus its surveillance on the islands bordering neighboring countries. According to Soebijanto, the marines have been stationed on those islands.
“At least, one platoon will be replaced every three months. The ships will intensify their visits to these islands,” stated Soebijanto. (Fanny Febiana-Tempo News Room)
