TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:National Police Chief Gen. Sutanto said that the body of Dr. Azahari would be sent to Malaysia immediately after the autopsy and identification process was finished.
Currently, the National Police are establishing coordination with the Malaysian Police to send the body home to Malaysia. “There was information that the family of Azahari had requested the body. Malaysian Police will facilitate and help with the dispatching of the body and we are preparing everything from Indonesia,” stated Sutanto before attending a Cabinet Meeting at the President’s Office in Jakarta on Friday (11/11).
The body of Azahari arrived at the National Police hospital in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, to undergo the autopsy. When the autopsy is finished,” we will immediately send the body to Malaysia,” stated Sutanto.
Regarding the identification process on the dead victims in the operation in Batu, Malang, on Wednesday (09/11), Sutanto reconfirmed that the body was Dr. Azahari, the terrorist suspect that had been sought by the police. “We are 100 percent sure that the body is Dr. Azahari,” stated Sutanto.
He added that the identification method using fingerprints was the most accurate. Therefore, there is no need to conduct DNA tests on the bodies. “We need the DNA if we are unable to identify the bodies and there are no fingerprints. As it turned out the fingerprints of Dr. Azahari are complete,” Sutanto stated. (Dimas Adityo-Tempo News Room)
