Police On Alert for Runaway Al-Faruq
Tuesday, 08 November, 2005 | 21:45 WIB

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The Indonesian government, said National Police Chief Gen. Sutanto, has been on alert for runaway Umar al-Faruq from US military prison in Bagram, Afghanistan, for some time. “We are keeping an eye out for possibilities. Don’t let anything ruin the image of Indonesia,” stated Sutanto before attending a limited cabinet meeting on politics and security at the President Office in Jakarta on Monday (07/11).

Up to now, Sutanto said, there was not any indication that Umar al-Faruq had entered Indonesia. “We hope that he will not come here. His activity is mostly in Middle East countries,” stated Sutanto.

Asked whether or not the Indonesian government had established communication with the US government about the terrorism case, Sutanto said that the diplomatic approach has been carried out by the Indonesian Foreign Affairs Department. (Dimas Adityo-Tempo News Room)
