Police Confirm TNT Was In Bali Bomb
Tuesday, 08 November, 2005 | 21:42 WIB

TEMPO Interactive, Denpasar, Bali:The investigation of the Bali bombing II location at R. Aja’s Restaurant verified that there were trinitrotoluene (TNT) elements in the bomb. “This has confirmed the assumption made by Bali Police Chief a day after the explosion,” said Bali Police spokesman High Comm. A.S. Reniban on Monday (07/11).

Different than the case of R. Aja’s, the identification of bomb materials in the Kafe Nyoman and Kafe Menega, Jimbaran is yet to be finished and is still under investigation. Up to Monday (07/11), the number of witnesses questioned numbered 791 people consisting of 281 witnesses for R. Aja’s restaurant, 286 for Kafe Menega and 242 for Kafe Nyoman.

Reniban said that there was not yet any clue on the relation between the TNT and identification of the bombing group. “The group can be related to the previous one or the new group. We have difficulties making certain of this matter,” stated Reniban. One thing’s for sure, Reniban said, there were differences between Bali bombing I and Bali bombing II because Bali bombing I was by car while Bali bombing II used suicide bombers wearing backpacks.

Meanwhile, in relation to the runaway Al Faruq from the prison in Afghanistan, Bali Police increased their awareness of the possibility of terrorist action. According to Reniban, Bali will remain the target because of the strategic value of this area. (Rofiqi Hasan-Tempo News Room)
