TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono ordered Coordinating Minister for the Economy Aburizal Bakrie to take the necessary steps in overcoming the inflation rate this month, that is recorded at around 8 percent.

Presidential spokesman Andi Mallarangeng said that the President considered this matter deeply. “The President has also requested the Coordinating Minister for the Economy to explain the anticipatory measures to the public,” said Mallarangeng to reporters at the Presidential office in Jakarta on Tuesday (01/11).

Mallarangeng also said that the President was concerned with the rise in the inflation rate. As an economist, Mallarangeng added, the President understood the required measures to overcome this matter. He also requested reporters to ask about technical matters to the Coordinating Minister for the Economy.

As reported earlier, the Central Bureau of Statistics just announced the inflation range in October. Following the fuel price hike early this month, inflation this month increased to around 8 percent. Previously, the Government had predicted a rise of around 2-3 percent this month following the fuel price hike. (Budi Riza-Tempo News Room)
