Balinese Dissatisfied with the Transfer of Amrozi
Wednesday, 12 October, 2005 | 02:50 WIB
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The Bali House of Representatives (DPRD) Speaker Deputy IBG Suryatmaja Manuaba expressed his disappointment over the transfer of Amrozi and his two accomplices in the Bali Bombing I case from Kerobokan penitentiary to Nusakambangan. Manuaba said that this will hurt the feelings of the Balinese, who wish the execution of the three convicted terrorists to go forward.
“This means the authorities are not prepared to anticipate the protest against the transfer of Amrozi on Tuesday (11/10),” Manuaba stated. If the transfer is made for the safety of Amrozi, Imam Samudra and Mukhlas, Manuaba said, this is considered unreasonable because the protesters are unarmed civilians.
The Chairman of the Indonesian Hindu Dharma Students’ Association (KMHDI), Kayun Semaracipta, made a similar statement. As reported earlier, there will be several activities held by elements within society to remember the Bali bombing I tragedy.
In addition to prayer, activities will also be held to urge hastening the death sentence of those convicted of the Bali Bombing I case. (Rilla Nugraheni-Tempo News Room)
