Rp1.7 Trillion of Fuel Subsidy Funds Have Been Disbursed

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The Indonesian government has already directly disbursed Rp1.7 trillion of subsidy funds in cash.
State Minister for National Development Planning Sri Mulyani said that these funds have been disbursed by the Finance Department at the request of the Social Department to be distributed via Bank BRI and PT POS Indonesia branches.
“This is in line with the list of beneficiaries’ names,” stated Mulyani at the State Palace complex in Jakarta.
According to the State Minister, the total of direct subsidy funds up to the end of this year amounts to Rp4.65 trillion, as agreed to by the House of Representatives (DPR).
These funds shall be allocated to around 15.5 million poor families who will obtain their funds through post offices and Bank BRI branch offices in respective regions.
Mulyani said she hoped that there would be no leakages in the disbursement of these funds as the BRI and the post office would then have to replace any missing funds.
The government will also set up posts up to the regency level in order to serve poor people who have not yet been recorded.
These posts shall be near to Bank BRI branches or post offices involved in the disbursement of funds to the public.
Separately, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Aburizal Bakrie said that an inter-departmental team shall monitor the disbursement of the funds in order to minimize any leakages.
“If possible, there should be 90 percent accuracy,” he said. (Budi Riza-Tempo News Room)
