Four Indonesian Military (TNI) Battalions Return to their Home Areas

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Four battalions of Indonesian Military (TNI) troops returned on Tuesday (20/09) through Krueng Geukuh, Lhokseumawe. The battalions boarded three ships and headed toward their original unit areas.
Indonesian Military troops numbering 2,600 in the second group were in this first stage. The troops were from Battalion 407 that were stationed for 16 months in South Aceh, Battalion 144, 13 months in Pidie regency, Battalion 515, 15 months in Pidie regency and Battalion 514, 14 months in the North Aceh area.
On Sunday (18/09), 800 Indonesian Military personnel from Battalion 125 Simbisa Kabanjahe Medan, North Sumatra and Armet Battalion in Medan, North Sumatra, also returned home.
The return of Indonesian Military troops began as the peace was realized between the Indonesian government and Free Aceh Movement (GAM), and also in accordance with the surrender of GAM weapons, which was carried out in three regions: Bireuen, Aceh Besar and Pidie. There were 226 standard weapons handed over to TNI.
