One More Kuningan Bomber Sentenced to Death
Thursday, 15 September, 2005 | 08:39 WIB

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Ahmad Hasan, one more bomber convicted in the Kuningan bombing case, has been sentenced to death by the South Jakarta District Court on Wednesday (14/09).

The Court judges, led by Ahmad Sobari, considered that the convicted bomber had legitimately and convincingly participated in the bombing in front of the Australian Embassy in Jakarta.

“The convicted participated in the conspiracy to plan an act of terror and intentionally provided his support by hiding the perpetrators,” Sobari stated.

This ruling is similar to the charges made by the prosecution.

The Court judges said that Hasan was proven of having been involved in preparing the explosive materials as well the car that was exploded in front of the Australian Embassy in Jakarta.

He was proven of carrying out a survey of the embassy location before the bombing.

Ahmad Hasan aka Agung Cahyono aka Purnomo also participated in providing help to the perpetrators by taking Ali, assumed to be Dr. Azahari, to the embassy before the vehicle exploded in front of the Embassy.

Hasan was proved of having hidden bombing masterminds, Dr. Azahari and Noor Din M Top, who had used other names since their meeting in Surabaya, East Java, and accommodated them in Purnomo’s official house from PT Pertani in Blitar.

The convicted said that he was not able yet to accept the verdict.

“Everyone who is willing to accept this verdict is an unbeliever,” said Hasan.

He considered there had been intervention from foreign parties and everything was slander.
