Friday, 09 September, 2005 | 10:27 WIB

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Indonesian President Yudhoyono held a briefing with Indonesian Military (TNI) high-rank officers and leaders for three hours at the TNI headquarters in Cilangkap, East Jakarta, on Wednesday (07/09).

At a press conference held after the event, Cabinet Secretary Sudi Silalahi said that the President had shared information about world strategic development globally as well as regionally and nationally.

“We hope that high-ranking officers will now have a better comprehension of problems faced by the nation,” said Silalahi.

According to the Cabinet Secretary, during the briefing session, the President explained about the various problems faced by the nation in terms of fiscal, monetary and energy policies.

The President also warned high-rank officers to maintain professionalism and stay away from politics.

According to Silalahi, the TNI no longer question the peace agreement between the government and the Free Aceh Movement (GAM).

TNI HQ spokesperson Col. Ahmad Yani Basuki said that the briefing did not particularly discuss the peace agreement with the GAM.

According to Basuki, the president saw that the TNI was already in the proper position.

He added that the President had emphasized three matters that must be fulfilled by the TNI: professionalism, capability and work performance.(Fanny Febiana-Tempo News Room)
