TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The United States government has sent an investigator from the National Transport Safety Port (NTSP) to Indonesia.
This investigator shall help the Transportation Safety National Committee (KNKT) to find the case of the Mandala airplane crash on Monday (05/09).
Minister of Transportation Hatta Radjasa made this statement at his office on Wednesday (07/09).
According to Radjasa, the investigator arrived in Medan on Wednesday (07/09).
In addition to the NTSP, another investigator will also be sent from the Boeing company.
This investigator is scheduled to arrive in Medan, North Sumatra, on Thursday (08/09).
According to Radjasa, the two foreign investigators will work under the coordination of the KNKT, which consists of eight people.
The inclusion of the two foreign investigators, Radjasa said, did not mean that the Indonesian authorities were incapable of conducting an investigation by itself.
The willingness of the Indonesian authorites to team up with foreign investigators is to respect foreign parties’ willingness to help in finding out the cause of the crash. (Khairunnisa-Tempo News Room)
