MPR Speaker Requests President to Immediately Evaluate Cabinet Performance
Wednesday, 07 September, 2005 | 19:57 WIB

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:There have been calls for Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to immediately carry out an evaluation on the cabinet performance.

People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Speaker Hidayat Nurwahid has also made a similar call although Nurwahid is known to be very close to President Yudhoyono.

“The President certainly does not wish to see his cabinet fail. He wants to see his programs succeed like he said in his presidential campaigns,” Nurwahid told reporters on Tuesday (06/09).

In the early stages of the cabinet being formed, Nurwahid said, all would-be ministers signed a contract which required an evaluation of their performance in the cabinet within a year.

“So, this evaluation is very important to improve the cabinet performance,” he stated.

Regarding the call for a cabinet reshuffle from several parties, Nurwahid said that this should have encouraged ministers to improve their performance. (Syaiful Amin-Tempo News Room)
