TEMPO Interactive, Ambon:The police arrested five suspects allegedly involved in the Mardika Market bombing in Ambon on Friday (26/08) at 10am local time or 8am Western Indonesian Time.
The suspects were arrested in Ketapang village, West Seram, Maluku, by a joint team from the Ambon Police and the Anti-Terror 88 Detachment.
Based on information received, the suspects were arrested while they were sleeping.
They include Aden, who is alleged to have ordered the placing of the bombs in the market, and Dulah, who is alleged to have made the bomb.
Three other people--Faisal, Salim and Omen--were still being questioned by the police at the time of this report.
One other person was said to have escaped.
The joint arrest team was led by Ambon Police Chief of Detectives First Inspector Jefry Juniarta.
According to Juniarta, who was interviewed at the Bhayangkara hospital, the suspects ran away during the raid so they were shot at.
Most of the suspects are suffering from gunshot wounds in their feet or thighs.
The police had previously arrested Kasim Wali, who is alleged to have committed the bombing.
He was taken by the joint team of the 88 Detachment and the Ambon Police to Seram island in order to identify his friends.
From observations made by Tempo, Ambonese people appear to be carrying out their activities as normal.
On Thursday night, the police continued carrying out raids throughout Ambon.
“I have give orders them to carry out sweeping. We are still also chasing two other suspects who are yet to be arrested,” said Ambon Police chief Leonidas Braksan.
