Widodo AS: Peace Agreement an Entry Point to Building Aceh

TEMPO Interactive, Banda Aceh:According to Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Political, Law and Security Affairs Widodo AS, the signing of the peace agreement between the Indonesian government and the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) on August 15, 2005, is very much hoped for the Acehnese people.

“This agreement is an entry point that shall create more opportunities in building a more peaceful Aceh,” Widodo said after attending a meeting of Aceh Reconstruction Board (BRR) advisory board at the Aceh Police headquarters (HQ), Banda Aceh (08/08).

According to the minister, all parties must be grateful regarding the peace agreement because full concentration is really required in establishing Aceh following the tsunami disaster and Aceh conflict.

“The orientation must lead this way, to construct Aceh and establish peace in the province,” said Widodo.

He said he hoped that all parties were willing to contribute in order to guarantee the implementation of the agreement and the compliance of all parties in constructing Aceh in the future.

“However, now all parties must be sincere in implementing the peace agreement. The key is there,” Widodo stated. (Adi Warsidi-Tempo News Room)
