President Guarantees Tsunami Aid Disbursement in Line With Program

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:According to Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono,the government has a good program in conducting the rehabilitation and reconstruction process in Aceh and North Sumatra following the earthquake and tsunami disasters.

President Yudhoyono also said that this program was in line with the needs of the members of the general public who were victims of the disaster at the end of last year.

The President made this statement while delivering a speech to celebrate the 38th anniversary of the Association of South East Asia Nations (ASEAN) at the ASEAN Secretariat-General building on Monday (08/08).
The presidential speech was entitled: “Building the ASEAN Community: An Aspect of Democracy”.

“With the help of several parties, we shall monitor the implementation of this program. Therefore, we will make sure that every Rupiah budgeted and every US dollar donated shall be disbursed based on the planning of the program,” said Yudhoyono.

According to the President, the flow of aid to provide emergency assistance to the victims of the disasters is very much related to the role of ASEAN countries.

One of the best achievements of ASEAN countries’ collaboration was the signing of the agreement on risk management and the of disaster emergency response activities at the recent ASEAN Ministers’ meeting.
