TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Firman Gani has said that four more suspects in the overseas baby trafficking case were still being hunted by a special team of detectives.
The four suspects are JW, Joseph, X and ER.
According to Gani, the police are still carrying out investigations into the case and as yet do not know the countries where the babies were sold.
“They claim they sold the babies in Hongkong and Singapore. But, we still have to check it again,” said the Police Chief at the Jakarta Police headquarters on Tuesday (02/08).
Regarding the forging of the birth certificates by MRT, Gani said, the testimonies of the suspects must still be investigated further.
This is related to the verification procedure in criminal law, which demands that material as well as formal truths must be verified.
Gani added that there was the possibility of cooperating with other countries as has previously been carried out by Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and Taiwan to uncover the baby trafficking network.
As regards when this case might be completed, he said that there was no time limit. (Evy Flamboyan-Tempo News Room)
