Wednesday, 27 July, 2005 | 02:57 WIB
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:South Jakarta District Court judges have sentenced Agus Ahmad bin Engkos Kosasih, convicted for his role in the bombing in front of the Australian Embassy in Jakarta, to four years in prison.
The judges, led by Johanes Suhadi, considered Agus guilty for having supported an act of terrorism by bringing, saving and hiding explosive materials.
“The convicted was found guilty of having supported a criminal act of terrorism by bringing, saving and hiding ammunition and dangerous materials,” said Suhadi while delivering the ruling on Tuesday (26/07).
Kosasih was considered of playing a role in saving the ammunition in a box owned by Iwan Darmawan aka Rois.
Darmawan was the main player in the Kuningan bombing.
“So, it would be too much if a convicted party was released,” said Suhadi while reading out the ruling.
Kosasih immediately said he would appeal against the sentence.
His lawyer, Gilroy, from the Muslim Defender Team, said that he was still reviewing the appeal.
He considered that the judges’ ruling should not be based on facts found in the field but more on the witnesses. (Yuliawati-Tempo News Room)
