CN-235 and OV-10 F Bronco Planes Grounded by Air Force
Tuesday, 26 July, 2005 | 00:55 WIB

TEMPO Interactive, Madiun, East Java:Indonesian Air Force Chief of Staff Air Marshall Djoko Suyanto said that all Air Force CN-235 and OV-10 F Bronco planes are grounded for the time being.

“The planes are grounded until the results of the investigations into the recent plane crashes are completed. Then, once any mistakes are corrected up, these planes will be allowed to be flown once again,” Suyanto told reporters in Madiun, East Java, on Monday (25/07).

Meanwhile, other planes, although some are quite old, are still flown as before.

Suyanto cited examples of Boeing 737-200 planes, which were being used due to good maintenance and good spare parts.

According Suyanto, all planes that are currently flying have gone through all stages of examination and received the approval of technicians, inspectors, and officers in the field.

As reported earlier, there have been two major plane incidents with a OV-10 F Bronco in Malang on Wednesday (20/07) and a CN-235 Alfa 2301 in Malikussaleh, Lhokseumawe, on Thursday (21/07). (Rohman Taufiq-Tempo News Room)
