“We always emphasize our support for Palestinians in establishing a free Palestine where they can live peacefully and safely with the Israelis,” said the Foreign Minister after a meeting with Yudhoyono at the presidential palace on Wednesday (13/07).
During a meeting at the Asia-Africa Conference last April, said Wirajuda that Palestinian Prime Minister Deputy Nabil Saad requested Indonesia to appoint a special envoy as has already been done by India and South Africa.
According to the Foreign Minister, this planned visit is according to the people’s aspiration to show real support for the struggle of the Palestinian people.
Wirajuda said that he had been appointed to seek and explore possibilities to visit Palestine in terms of technical methods, time and route so that President
Yudhoyono could enter the area of Ramallah, Palestine.
He added that the security and access into Ramallah very much depended on the policies made by Israeli government. (Dimas Adityo-Tempo News Room)
