National Police Chief Asks Police Chiefs to Eradicate Gambling Within a Week

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:National Police chief Gen. Sutanto has given one week to police chiefs all over Indonesia in which to eradicate any forms of gambling.
The National Police chiefs will evaluate this order in the weekend.
National Police headquarters spokesperson Brig. Gen. Aryanto Budihardjo said that the National Police chief has ordered all police chiefs to take stern measures against all gamblers arrested in the field.
“Starting from today, the National Police chief does not wish to see gambling in any form,” Budihardjo told reporters on Monday afternoon (11/07) in Jakarta.
The National Police chief has ordered police chiefs to be very serious in handling illegal drugs or narcotics cases.
According to an evaluation by the National Drugs Board, the use of narcotics in Indonesia is considered to be large.
Budihardjo said that in one month, 720,000 Indonesians have consumed 20 tons of drugs using needles.
“We are yet to consider other drugs,” said Budihardjo.
Sutanto has also ordered all police chiefs to participate in the eradication of corruption, terrorism, illegal logging, illegal mining and illegal fishing.
