TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The National Police headquarters has confirmed that it has arrested Ahmad Fauzan, who is suspected of having been in acts of terrorism in Indonesia.
Fauzan was arrested on Thursday (07/07) in Mojokerto, East Java.
National Police HQ spokesperson Insp. Gen. Aryanto Budihardjo said that Fauzan was suspected to have hidden alleged bombing mastermind Noor Din M. Top, who is on the wanted list, for 14 days during this February and March.
“However, I do not yet know where he hid M. Top,” Budihardjo said.
The arrest of Fauzan came as new development in the investigation into 13 terrorist suspects who have been questioned since June 29.
They are now under detention at the National Police HQ.
Regarding the status of Fauzan, Budihardjo said that this matter would only be known in the next two days.
However, during a preliminary investigation, the police have found strong indications that Fauzan was involved in acts of terrorism in Indonesia.
“Up to now, he is still being questioned and yet to be arrested. Maybe tomorrow or the day after tomorrow we can advise his status,” said Budihardjo.
