Government Asks Indonesian Parties to Accommodate GAM

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The Indonesian government has requested that Indonesian political parties provide opportunities to former members of the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) to stand as candidates in the regional head elections in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam.

The reason for this is because the government does not approve of the establishment of local parties.

This request was made on Wednesday night during a meeting attended by political party chairmen at the residence of Vice President Jusuf Kalla.
