TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Commissioner General Sutanto plans to arrest and reveal drug dealers if he is officially appointed as National Police chief to replace General Da’i Bachtiar.
However, Sutanto refused to make any statement regarding his candidacy by the President.
“I am still Head of the National Narcotics Board. If I am to talk about this, the replacement of the National Police chief, this should be later on,” Sutanto said after the celebrations for the International Anti-Drug Use and Trafficking Day at the State Palace on Tuesday (28/06).
Sutanto said that he would wait for the result of his fit and proper testing as the National Police chief candidate which is being conducted by the House of Representatives (DPR).
“Only when I know the result of this will I be able to say what I will do in the future,” he said, hoping that the process of his candidacy would go smoothly.
On the same occasion, Bachtiar said that he would be delighted to see the replacement process of the National Police chief go smoothly.
“The National Police will soon have a new chief,” he said, smiling next to Sutanto.
Bachtiar said that he was preparing a memory program that must be followed up by the New Police chief.
Basically, he said, the National Police chief would carry out strategies and policies already determined by previous leaders. (Sunariah-Tempo News Room)
