TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Members of the Japanese parliament have offered to cooperate with the Indonesian government in eradicating acts of corruption acts.
This statement was delivered by two parliamentary members of Japanese Democratic Liberal Party, Kabun Muto and Shin Sakurai, during a meeting with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at the President Office in Jakarta on Monday (16/05).
Sakurai said that the Japanese parliament has fixed corruption eradication as the main requirement for Japanese investors to invest in Indonesia.
“This is a must,” said Sakurai, a former Japanese environmental minister.
Meanwhile, Muto said that in addition to eradicating corruption and nepotism, Indonesia is expected to increase its revenues.
Japan, he stated, is willing to help Indonesia in this matter.
“To put this into realization, we must first have high economic growth,” Muto stated.
During the meeting, the two parliamentary members, together with three members of their staff, have promised to help Indonesia, particularly as regards increasing infrastructure in Aceh.
They also promised to increase capital investment in Indonesia and delivered their gratitude over Yudhoyono’s leadership at the Asia-Africa Summit.
