Amount of Foreign Volunteers to Be in Line with Masterplan
Monday, 14 March, 2005 | 19:23 WIB

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:In the run-up to the reconstruction phase in the earthquake and tsunami wave areas in Aceh, the government is to adjust the amount of foreign volunteers needed in line with the development masterplan.

In two weeks’ time, the masterplan will be handed over to the cabinet for discussion.

“How many of the foreign volunteers needed there will depend on if their contribution is essential during the reconstruction phase,” Aditya Wardhana, communications consultant for the Coordinating Minister for People’s Welfare, told Tempo on Saturday (12/3).

According to Aditya, currently there are 180 out of the original total of 380 foreign volunteer organizations in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam and they have been there since the emergency stage.

The 180 organizations, said Aditya, still have the chance to be involved in the reconstruction phase.
