Wednesday, 09 March, 2005 | 19:36 WIB
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Business between Indonesia and Malaysia will not affected by the Ambalat situation, according to the President of the Malaysian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dato Seri Abdul Rahman Maidin.
“I am convinced that this problem can be solved properly through diplomatic channels,” Maidin told reporters in Jakarta, on Wednesday (9/3).
According to him, businesses in Malaysia are convinced that the Ambalat case can be solved satisfactorily.
Maidin also said that the governments of both countries, the Malaysian Prime Minister and the Indonesian President, could solve the case.
Malaysia receives many benefits from large projects in Indonesia, especially in the infrastructure sector.
“Malaysia’s investment in Indonesia will not be disturbed. Malaysian businesspeople do not see this case (the Ambalat case) as something to be worried over,” said Maidin.
In a similar vein to Maidin, Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for the Economy Aburizal Bakrie said that the Ambalat case would not influence on investment projects in either country.
