TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Starting as of Wednesday (9/3), all pollution cases in the waters of the Thousand Islands, Jakarta are to be handled directly by the State Minister for the Environment.
“Following a meeting last night, which ended at 1am, all such cases will be handled by the minister,” said Sudarsono, the Deputy for Environment Law Enforcement at the State Ministry for the Environment.
According to Sudarsono, all information about crude oil pollution will be reported directly to the general public by the minister.
“We all respect this decision,” continued Sudarsono, who usually provide the media with information.
Previously, a Civil Service Environment Law Enforcement Investigation Team, led by Sudarsono, stated that off shore oil exploration company PT CNOOC was suspected of crude oil pollution.
The investigation team also promised to bring PT CNOOC to the State Prosecutor this month.
“The evidence is complete and points to PT CNOOC,” said Sudarsono at the time, according to Tempo (24/02).
