Kostrad Ready for Any Disturbance over Sovereignty

This was stated during the 44th Anniversary of Kostrad with the theme of “Kostrad is Prepared to Safeguard Indonesia’s sovereignty,” in Cijantung, Tuesday (8/3).

“The Indonesian Military (TNI) is committed to always defend the sovereignty and integrity of the country,” said Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) Lieutenant General Joko Santoso, in his mandate as the leader of the ceremony.
According to him, this commitment has been proved by the TNI’s strict actions against rebels and separatism movements such as those in Aceh and Papua.
The Army Chief of Staff went on to say that the claim by Malaysia as regards Ambalat Island was a disturbance to Indonesia’s sovereignty.
“So it is the TNI’s job, including Kostrad, to be prepared to face anyone who disturbs the sovereignty,” said Santoso.
During the ceremony, the Army Chief of Staff KSAD also said he hoped troops would continue to interact well with the people.
“The success of this country’s fight for freedom was because of the togetherness of TNI and the people. We must never forget that,” said Santoso.
