National Police Chief Optimistic Dr. Azahari Will be Arrested Soon

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:National Police chief General Da’i Bachtiar has said he is optimistic that the police would arrest two bombing masterminds, Dr. Azahari and Noor Din M. Top, within 100 first days of Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s administration.
“The sooner the better. The target of 100 days shall encourage us to work hard in arresting these bombing masterminds,” said Bachtiar on the sidelines of a coordination meeting with House of Representatives (DPR) Commission III on Thursday (25/11).
The Police Chief declined to detail the current position of the police in pursuing the bombing masterminds.
Bachtiar worried that if he revealed too much about the case, it would cause difficulties for the police in the field to carry the arrest of the terrorist suspects.
According to the Police Chief, even if he did not reveal details of this case to the public, members of terrorist networks have ways of finding out.
The terrorist suspects would become suspicious should they get separated from other terrorist members or not be contacted by their friends.
“It’s common in an organized activity. Even if they are not arrested and only separated from their friends, they will know that there is something wrong,” Bachtiar stated.
“Have faith. It’s only a matter of time,” he said.
