TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Nine terrorist suspects have been detained at the National Police headquarters after being handed over by Bali and East Java Police.
“There were five suspects sent from Bali and four others from Surabaya (East Java),” said National Police headquarters (HQ) anti-terror director, Brig. Gen. Pranowo Dahlan, at the National Police headquarters (HQ), on Tuesday (24/08).
According to Dahlan, the nine suspects had been arrested between June and August this year.
During a press conference, National Police HQ chief of detectives Comm. Gen. Suyitno Landung said that the nine suspects were assumed to have withheld information regarding the whereabouts of Noor Din Mohd. Top and Dr. Azahari, the alleged masterminds of various bombings in Indonesia.
The police are to charge these suspects under articles in Law No.15/2003 on terrorism eradication.
According to Landung, Noor Din Mohd. Top and Dr. Azahari recruited several people to join them in a closed organization.
