Swedish Police to Re-question Hasan Tiro
Wednesday, 23 June, 2004 | 21:10 WIB

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Stockholm Police detectives plan to carry out another questioning of Free Aceh Movement (GAM) President Hasan Tiro, GAM Prime Minister Malik Mahmud and GAM Minister of Foreign Affairs Zaini Abdullah.

Of course, we will carry out another questioning on them,” Stockholm Prosecutors’ Office head Thomas Lindstrani told Tempo News Room at his office on Monday (21/06).

Based on the decision made by the Huddinge District Court, the detention period of the three GAM’s top leaders, which lasted for three days, has ended.

Judge Lars Tomt declined the request made by Lindstrani to extend the detention of the three GAM leaders for further two weeks.

Lindstrani said that he was still studying the result of the current investigation and evidence found in Tiro, Mahmud and Abdullah’s residences.

He added that the prosecutors’ office was still waiting for the arrival of an Acehnese translator to translate Acehnese documents found in the residences of the GAM leaders in Sweden.

According to Lindstrani, he has requested the court to extend the detention of the GAM leaders as he thinks the three suspects will try to dispose of material evidence and run away from Sweden. (Faisal - Tempo News Room)
